How to Stop Period Pain - Part 2
Balance your pelvis to stop period pain and pelvic pain
Do you - or your daughter or friend - have bad periods? For many women period pain can be unbearable - and painkillers don’t even touch the sides. And maybe it comes with back pain, vomiting, depressed or anxious feelings, like your brain and body are against you. I hear you - I was there throughout my teens and 20s. I wish I’d known then what I know now! Luckily I can share the solutions I’ve found with you, to help you have easy periods from now on.
In Part 2 we’re looking at how balancing your pelvis can create easier periods.
What’s pelvic imbalance?
Your ovaries and uterus (womb) are supported by ligaments attached to the bones of your pelvis - i.e. your hips, the flat sacrum bone at base of your spine and your pubic bone at the front - as well as your abdominal wall, cervix and vaginal wall. If your pelvis is out of balance, it’s not resting or moving symmetrically - meaning both of your hips move in balance when you walk, run etc, and the bones aren’t sitting naturally in the joints when you’re sitting, standing or lying down, This is usually caused by poor posture habits or injuries, even from years ago.
This imbalance in the muscles and joints of your pelvis can create uneven tension in the ligaments holding your ovaries and womb in place and in the organs themselves, which can disrupt their natural functioning. So your period and your whole menstrual cycle can be influenced by the uneven tension patterns in your pelvis (and legs and low back). Once you’re aware of this it’s relatively easy to make a few adjustments to the way you sit, stand and walk each day that can relieve some of that chronic tension and restore balance to your organs, reducing period pain and other symptoms.
Easy periods restored
This is a testimonial from a client who brought her daughter to see me for her severe period pain. I’ll let her tell the story:
“My 15 yr old daughter suffered terribly when she got her period. She couldn’t walk, had unbearable pain and vomiting and she missed days of school – not to mention the mood swings.
She had 1 session with Janine and the first period after that was fantastic – almost no pain, no vomiting or nausea, the pain meds worked and she went to school as normal. Then she had another session a week before her next period and again had a great result – the period symptoms were gone. We didn’t see Janine before her third period yet she had the same result, an easy period – as she puts it “this is magic”.
My daughter has now had three periods since her first session with Janine and the results are amazing. Her periods were completely different, all her symptoms had disappeared. No vomiting, no cramps or pain and she was able to go to school. Her mood was completely positive because she had no pain to deal with. Best move we ever made! Everyone was suggesting I should put her on the pill but I knew there was a better solution – and we found it.”

I had a similar experience in my teens and 20s. Unfortunately my doctor did put me on the Pill, which stopped my period pain and PMS but led to many other health problems including trouble conceiving when I was ready to have a family.
Yet this young woman’s experience shows how, with only a few sessions to balance her pelvic alignment, her body’s natural cycle was restored and those awful symptoms were gone. She needed no expensive supplements, no special exercises, no surgical or other interventions – and a LOT less pain meds.
